Personal History: A-Qing's history page from the above wiki

Personality:
A-Qing grew up on the streets of Yi City, with the 'fortune' of white eyes that made her appear as a blind person. This cannot be extricated from her personality, as much of her outwards behaviour was carefully developed over the years to encourage people to let down their guard around her, or underestimate her enough that she could get away or counterattack in an unpleasant situation, of which there were many. Outwardly, she's a piteous maiden, clumsy and quick to apologise. Inwardly, she's a smart, foul-mouthed urchin. Without much companionship, she's quick to grant her total loyalty to people who gain her trust, even if they don't ask for it. Or, indeed, if they caution against it. She's equally quick to seek revenge against people who wrong her, usually by cursing at them, spitting, stealing their coinpurse or, in extreme moments, trying to kick or bite them.

Both due to her life as a beggar and due to her apparent blindness, A-Qing is resilient to horror, gore and the like, and is able to function even when in the grip of terror. Since people think she's blind, they don't bother with appearances around her, and so she's seen a Lot of Shit. She can inspect a body without flinching, will run into certain danger to save someone, and can lie and misguide people into thinking she's angry or sad to disguise herself shaking in fear. Being blind is her protection; so committed to the act is she that she won't admit to being able to see until it's a matter of life or death, and even then it's not her death she's worried about.

Equally, her intuition and cunning are both honed to an edge. While she lacks context or knowledge for a lot of situations, her gut instinct leads her in the right path more often than not, especially when it comes to the trustworthiness of people. Immediately trusting of people who mean well, forever on guard against those who would harm her. Unfortunately, her youth and relative powerlessness means that she often lacks the ability to act on her judgement. In a later time, after becoming a restless ghost, she uses this to continue to hunt down cultivators who could kill Xue Yang and bring them to the city, whilst also trying to warn away those she feels couldn't handle him on their own. She understands when she's outmatched, and tries to avoid getting into situations where she knows she won't be able to do anything, even if she wants to; she wants the same for others, too.

As her intuition is sharp, so too is her sense of justice. It's biased, for sure - she wants good things for people she likes, and bad things for people she doesn't. Good people should marry well, gain in power, and live happy and wealthy lives. Evil people should be ripped to pieces, never to reincarnate, have their food spat in, and be beaten up without mercy. Not in that order. Maybe. Insult a friend, and she'll attack with vicious protectiveness with the manner of a small, loyal animal; insult an enemy, and she'll heap another ten curses on top for you like a two-bit mafia enforcer.

She can be immature and selfish in a childlike way - because, come on, she's a teenage beggar who can count the number of good people she's met on one hand. On Xue Yang's hand, even. Around people she trusts, she enjoys acting spoiled and demanding; she gluts herself on their favour, whether in affection, food, or company. She loves sweet things, and exciting stories where people triumph over their enemies, and wrapping herself in warm, soft blankets and cuddling against loved ones. When she acts unreasonable and demanding to hide her fear, neither of the men who've lived with her for years see anything wrong with this, so she must use that act semi-frequently, or else combine it with actual unreasonable behaviour. Certainly she's encouraged in it.

Let's talk about the last weeks of her life! Despite her immaturity and her life of looking out for herself, when it came down to the wire, she refused to abandon Xiao Xingchen. Even if she could have run, and potentially avoided attracting Xue Yang's further attentions, she stayed with him to the end. Her last resort plans always featured him; she stayed up all night trying to think of a way not only to save him, but to save him while causing him the least amount of emotional pain. She broke her main rule, to never reveal she can see, to convince him that he was in danger, even though she was terrified that he would abandon her over the deception (and, hey! He did. In several ways.) When he died, her plans changed, and she showed persistence and courage in travelling from settlement to settlement, searching for someone to deal with Xue Yang. She did this not only up her canonpoint, which is seconds before she's blinded and disfigured, but she does it after death for years and years.

If nothing else, she's courageous and resourceful. And not because she's valiant and powerful, but because she's weak, and so scared that her legs refuse to move and her chest hurts so much that it feels like she's dying, and she still chooses to do what she can, even to the point of dying twice over.

Basically she's a stray with one beloved owner, because elle has a type.

Key themes: Justice, found family, the morality of deception.

Main Motivation: To get justice for Xiao Xingchen, so that he can rest in peace.

Skills:
A-Qing has no supernatural abilities; her skills are all based on self-preservation. Her two most reliable skills are her deft sleight of hand and her acting. Her white eyes give her an excellent prop that she plays to the hilt; she can feign blindness and is wary of people trying to catch her out to the point that she'll walk unflinchingly towards a drawn sword when she shouldn't be able to see it.

She can disguise one emotion as another, inventing an entire argument and grievance to be furious and hurt over, just to conceal that she couldn't stop shaking in fear or eat anything. Her ability to manipulate someone socially or emotionally is also fairly competent given her perception of other people - her first attempt to get XingChen to flee with her plays off his need to protect her and his own loneliness, for example.

Her sleight of hand, specifically her ability to pick pockets, is also good enough to only let her down against people with supernaturally acute senses. She's perfected the art of stumbling into someone and coming away with a purse or coin-string.

She's agile, and fast on her feet, but not superhumanly so. Parkour!

During her stay on the Voidtrecker Express, she was trained by Edge, Reno, Lan Wangji, Yondu and others in subterfuge and thievery, self-defence, and meditation and the basics of cultivation. Whilst still no more powerful than an average teenager, she's more skilled and self-confident.

Item: See inventory post, doesn't include her Vulpix or camera+film (left with Sizhui when she dropped) and her stolen hoodie (returned to Lan Wangji)
